Open science involves a broad range of tools and technical infrastructure, improvements to which could translate into advances in open science. What kinds of improvements should be considered in this context, how would they affect the practice of open science or the open science community, how could they be brought about, and what examples are there where improved tooling led to better open science practice?

I would say the most important is that the tools are also open

  • Open Code / Open Source
  • Open Hardware

and FAIR

  • Findable
  • Accessible
  • Interoperable
  • Reusable

It's useful to define what is meant by "open": https://opendefinition.org/

Ask Open Science used to be called Open Science Q&A but we changed the name when we registered the domain ask-open-science.org. Everything else stays the same: We are still hosted by Bielefeld University.
