What requirements are needed to perform open science studies on animals? Does it vary depending on the type of study and used species? Are there any legal aspects to be involved? Or where I can check that?

For instance, giving testing substance to mice or rats for some period of time and see how they behave and then publishing the detailed data publicly.

Do I need to apply for any permit/licence anywhere depending on the country or animal to perform that kind of open study independently (e.g. US/UK)?
