For the Wikimedia Fellowship Freies Wissen we are collecting success stories of open scientists or open science projects, institutions, initiatives. Please add yours!

I think the collection of Blue Obelisk projects have done pretty well in making the field of cheminformatics and field depending on it (like drug discovery) Open, which was a very closed field. Citation counts of the Chemistry Development Kit, Open Babel, and Avogadro show a very clear picture here.

Ask Open Science used to be called Open Science Q&A but we changed the name when we registered the domain ask-open-science.org. Everything else stays the same: We are still hosted by Bielefeld University Library.
